Viendalmare
Montemerano, Tuscany, 2024-
The farmhouse rises in the Italian countryside, on a slope nestled between a medievalborgoand the sea.Set outside the urban context, along the irregular incline of a hill in the Tuscan rural landscape, it establishes a direct relationship with the morphology of the terrain and the surrounding agricultural horizon. The intervention originates from a primary act of excavation and shaping of the land, in which the ground is cut and molded even before the architecture takes form.
This intuitive strategy is paired with a more rigorous method of site measurement, expressed through the presence of a permeable wall—an homage toCostantino Nivola’smuro con albero. This linear element organizes the project, separates the farm from the farmer’s house, and unfolds into a series of architectural devices. From it extend secondary functions, such as the swimming pool and the panoramic platform, which integrate into the landscape as extensions of the terrain itself.
